Hello dear academic friend. In China there are many parents allowing their kids to use cell phones of their own. But my wife and I do not let my kid have one as we don't think it is a good idea to possess one. You see, the kids are always distracted from their study if they have one, sending messages, playing games, making calls and such at school. As I am a teacher, I know this very clearly. By the way, one out of ten students in our school is not using a cell phone and it is a great headache to us teachers when they play with it in class, causing trouble to the class. I quite agree with you that kids are not allowed to have cell phones at school so that they can be more focused on their study, which is the most important in their life, which will help them a lot in their life and work later on. Thanks for your discussion, my dear academic friend.

Yes my Daughter has a cellphone she is 14 years old and had her first one when she was eleven. My other Daughter who is now eleven will probarly get onethis year. In todays society I think that its important that our children can contact us or we can conact them.

yes my daughter has had a mobile phone since she was 13.i only allowed her to have one as she attends a school 1 and a half hours away.so she needed to connact me if the trains were running late or any problems getting to and from school.so basically it was a necessity.cheers sue
