Ontario canada has a new holiday!! It's a paid one too! what do you think..

it's called FAMILY DAY. Here's a bit of the story. Fresh from election win, Liberals create 'Family Day' set for 3rd Monday in February Premier Dalton McGuinty celebrated his election victory by giving everyone the day off – in February. McGuinty, 52, got down to work yesterday by declaring the third Monday in February a new annual "Family Day" statutory holiday. I am absolutely thrilled by this. I always love to spend more time away from work and home with my son like I want to! And It's better because I get paid for it.

OMG what a great idea! but is this an official holiday or just something being talked about? I'll have to read the story after I wake up my kids and kick them out the door for school ;-)

it's an official holiday, however there is one occupation that doens't get any benifit from this holida. THE POLICE!

I honestly haven't heard of this at all..but it's great. I think that maybe ppl should take advantage of this day to spend time with their family and bond more. Hopefully more people will think the same instead of just observing it as another day off of work/school.

I knew this was in the works, but didn't hear it'd been officially passed, until over the holidays. I think it's a great idea, as I'm all for anything positive that gives 'us' another long weekend. It'll help with the winter blahs.:)

I agree, I am home all the time cause i'm a stay at home mom, but its always nice to have the hubby at home.. well.. usually ;)

It's great to hear that you appreciate your hubby.:) There's just my sixteen year old daughter, and myself here, but this means she'll get the day off school. I do home daycare, but the parents 'should' be off that day, and also, we may be able to make plans to go away for the weekend. Take care.

I think that if i ever have a home that has enough room that i could have a few kids to sit i willd do the same thing. When mine are old enough anyways ;)

I had no idea...Had not heard anything about this until now but I read the article and am so glad that it was passed...So it is official for the eighteenth of February...I guess this means that everything will be closed including schools...I must make plans as I always have Sundays off! Thanks for giving me something to look forward to! :) ~Heavens~
