I cam across some Channel lipstick so I decided to conduct a test and purchased a less expensive brand at the drug store. I used both one on one day and another on another day. It was a small difference the Channel lasted longer but not worth the price, if I had paid the original price for it. However, I did find the case pretty. I also did a mystery shop for Clinique and got some free goodies along with my purchase that I got for free after I turned in my receipt. That's all I got because I didn't get paid for the shop, but that was still cool. I got some eyeliner lip gloss and lip liner. I didn't like the lip gloss, the liner wasn't that bad but I liked the eyeliner and the free goody bag. The sales people are focused on making those sales so they did help me out but I still believe there is a little hype when it comes down to designer and drugstore or less expensive items.

Welcome. Are you new here? (11 posts is why I ask)I didn't figure there would be much of a differance. To me its just hype. If the product is tryed & True and you like it thats what matters & of course you did the smartest thing TRY it on sale:)

Thanks for your welcome, yes, I am new here and I love it! I am a SAHM with a passion for designer items. Not to buy, I think I just like to look at what's new up and coming. I like some styles and my challenge is to get that style but at a way cheaper cost. I have my own site and I sell over at ebay. I try to find designer item, and sell them (but) I don't go crazy with my prices, I mostly start a 9.99 and I get so many emails from customers thanking me for such a good bargain. I also combine ship at good cost and they like that too. Since ebay has gotten so high, its can be tricky to make a good profit from time to time but it sort of works out. Thanks for asking

A lot of it is hype. I even heard that some pricey lipsticks had lead in them. I do like Aveda which can be a little more pricey but they're all-natural and more environmentally friendly and not "perfumey" or heavy.

I think it's often all a load of hype and you're paying for the name of the brand. There are a couple that I think are really worth the extra cash though. MAC is superb quality for money and if I could afford it I think all my cosmetics would be bought from them. They are a fair bit more expensive though. I'll have to wait and see if things pick up for us financially this year! I also would pay more for Benefit, Urban Decay and Be Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful - none of them test on animals and they're high quality cosmetics.

I know what you mean with all the hype about name brand cosmetics. For the most part, cover girl is just as good as most of them. HOWEVER, I am addicted to M.A.C cosmetics because it literally stays on FOREVER and does not cake at all! It is a little expensive, but when you return 6 empty cases of lipgloss, eyeshadow, whatever, you get a makeup thing for free =] how SWEET is that! Plus, their viva la glam products take a portion of the profit and give it to charity!!! its a win win situation! you look FABULOUS, (its the makeup they use on celebrities in movies, etc...) and you help people in need and will eventually get free makeup!!!!
