Is anyone watching the current BBC adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility"? I'm loving it! It's always been my favourite of Austen's books and I loved the Emma Thompson film version. It's currently running in the U.K. on Sunday nights. So far we've seen two of three parts. The finale is this coming weekend. Mr. Willoughby isn't very attractive at all, which is very unappealing. He's supposed be rather handsome! From the clips of the next part there's going to be a sword fight between Col. Brandon and Willoughby. Definitely not in the book! Although "Sense and Sensibility" is my favourite of the books, "Pride and Prejudice" is my closely followed second favourite, then followed by "Persuasion" and "Emma" in joint third place, then "Mansfield Park" and "Northanger Abbey". The ending of "Mansfield Park" seemed rushed and disappointing. "Northanger Abbey" was of course brilliantly written and a great parody on the then current romantic, gothic style, but incredibly anti-climactic.

Yes - i'm watching the BBC version of Sense and Sensibility. It's very good. At first i was comparing it to the film version with Emma Thompson, which was alos very good. The two are quite different though, but in a good way! I thought elinor in the bbc version at times sounds just like Emma Thompson! The men weren't anything to rave over, but not bad either! LOL!! Not read the book yet, it's one i want to read soon! I agree with you about Mansfield park, the rushed ending spoils it somewhat, but i think northanger abbey is very good, much prefer it to Persuasion. Pride and Prejudice is definetely my favourite though, not read Emma or S and S yet though!
