Nail file in the toilet

I am extremely upset. I dropped my nail file in the toilet!!! I've had this nail file for 10 years. It was with me all through high school. Before when I thought I lost it I nearly felt sick. I found it and was happy again. It was a pretty silver file with a black handle. No otehr file can file my nails the way that file did. I was trying to put it away when it slipped out of my hands. What's worse was that I thought about taking it out. I didn't do it. I just flused it away. Now as I look at my nails I noticed that I have a big chip in one the size of a crator. I have no file to re-shape it....sigh

lol if it was a fresh bowl of cleanish water, like if no one went potty in there without flushing, if it was that important to you you should have taken itout, you could always soak it in some bleach before using it again, besides, i dont think toilets are ment for flushing those types of things, and you might end up with a clogged can now!!

If it was a fresh bowl of water I would have dove right in and pulled it out. Unfortunatly it wasn't. I was at work too so I'm not too sure how clean the whole washroom is. I'd rather clog the work toilet than my own. I can always play the fool if a plummer comes to find out what is clogging up the toilet.

lol that makes sense. I assumed that you were filing your nails in the bathroom at your own house. There ya go another reason to never assume anyhting.

If it was a metal nail file, flushing it was not the smartest thing to do. It can get stuck and you may not even know it for a while. The rest of the stuff you flush, like toilet paper, can gather around it and eventurally plug your toilet. Also then you can't just plunge it, you will have to hire a plumber to come take your toilet apart to get it out. I know, because I have done the same thing a long time ago. Why wouldn't you just take it out of the toilet? Your toilet doesn't have as many germs as you think. Did you not watch Oprah when she had a show on about germs. They did tests and it turns out there is more germs in your kitchen sink than there is in your toilet. Besides, it could be washed off unless it wasn't metal.

Hi, I know this response is 4 months overdue. I was at work when it fell in. I would have took it out if I was at home. I'm not worried if it gets stuck in the toilet system at work.

Oh that sucks. I hope you can find a new one like the one you had. I ususally just buy the disposable emery board type of nail files. They work well but only a couple times each, but I can get like 25 for $1 so they are still affordable. Maybe you should try that kind, that way if you lose one it won't be a big deal.

I've never been a fan of disposable emery boards. I found a substitute. It's not bad.
