Has lying ever been encouraged by management?

As a former Aol call center flunky, we were told to save the customers at any costs. Management taught us ways to twist the words, so it technically wasn't a lie. Aol had a legal department pushing the limit of what we could get away with concerning the customers. Has anyone had similiar experiences?

I haven't had a similar experience, thankfully indpatriot but I have a very good friend who is having huge problems with AOL at the moment so it doesn't surprise me that this happens! xxx
