My step brother came out this week from out of state and visited my house yesterday. He is a cool guy and I don't have any friends near where I live (Only my wife and kid) so I was looking forward to him coming. When he arrived we had a good time for a few hours and then I began to remember how he use to rub me the wrong way after prolonged exposure. (Like being in the sun for too long. We've all had a friend like this at one point or another.) He was inconsiderate, rude, loud, demanding, and pulled the same old things he used to. I'll give a few for instants....1: I asked him to take off his shoes and he said,"Oh their clean, don't worry about it." My kid is 16 months old and is very active. I try to keep the floor dry and clean,...which is a lot easier when people take off their shoes. 2: He smokes and after my girl got home from work at 1:00am, not only did he demand I went to get him cigs, but he didn't want to come with. I was like.."What...yea right. If you want them, I'll give you a ride, but your coming with. I don't smoke so I don't really care if you get them or not....what do you want to do?" He exhaled a large breath and slowly got up. Once at the gas station, he handed me the money and said,"Camel light filters, and if they have buy 1 get 1 buy those." It was late and I was already short tempered so I just went in to get them. 3: He was dropped off at my house and not once did he mention that he needed a ride back to where he was staying across town. We don't have a lot of gas in our one working vehicle and of course dudes house was located across town. Right as my girl is about to take a nap before work (By the way she's 5 1/2 months pregnant) and he says to her,"Before you take a nap, do you think you can give me a ride back to jason's house?" She looks at me and I have the same look on my face so she says, OK. I jumped up and said,"I'll do it, its cool, go take a nap and put dylan down for a nap also." She didn't want to do that. So I offered to take him with, she didn't want to do that either. So she didn't take a nap and stayed at home for an hour while I ran him back to his friends house across town. While on our way, he got us lost and then once we found the right street, he told me soooo late and after doing the whole,"Auhhhhhhhh....yea thats it." We passed it and traffic was going over 50mph, turning wasn't going to happen for a while and once we got on the right track, I realized that we passed this street 4 times and I asked him a couple of times if that was it...he said, NO. When I got home she was upset at me at first because she thought I knew about this and didn't say anything to her about it. I explained what happened and we both agreed that small,...maybe even very small increments of Rob are fun, but more then that will taint the whole experience. There were a lot of other things that happened also, but you get the just of it I'm sure. He'll be leaving soon and I'll miss him once he's gone, but as soon as he arives next time, I'll be right back in this same spot all again. Thats what friends are for I suppose.
