Conqurer online is the one i played before runescape, its quite good but you have to download it and it takes up one gegabyte hard drive space! But its really good once you start playing!

There are many types of online RPG. If you are talking about Runescape, I assume that you mean web-based RPG, although Runescape is has quite good graphic compared to most web-based RPG.
