A Feeling That Spring is Near!

Sheep Grazing - Yearling sheep grazing.

We're having a fairly mild Winter in the south of England, apart from a couple of weeks before Christmas, and a couple of days last week. However, it has been raining quite a lot and we've had some pretty strong winds too. But, my face lit up when I opened the curtains the other morning, to see the sheep back in the field at the bottom of my garden. They look like yearlings and I suspect they'll be lambing in late February/early March. There are even a couple of black sheep out there, and I haven't seen them for so long, I sat and watched them for a while. It gave me a feeling that Spring is near, and the days are growing longer all the time. Easter is early this year, and Good Friday coincides with Ostara, the first day of Spring and my eldest Son's birthday. Wow... all that celebrating to look forward to on the 21st of March, which isn't so far off now. I love the Spring and the beginning of Nature's new life, but I must be careful not to wish my life away. All the seasons have special meanings for me, but I love to be outdoors. First though, I have to shake off this bug I've had for ages, so that I can enjoy all that Nature and life have to offer.

Yes, the black sheep do look cute amongst the others. We had a lovely spring-like day today, and I had to work!!! lol. Then, by evening, when I'd finished, it was raining again. Oh well... you can't win them all, I guess. So you have an Aries son too, huh? Amazing. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

Hmmmmmmm, I have a Scorpio Son, too. lol. I had one when the clocks were turned forward, and one when the clocks went back, 25th October. How's that for opposites? lol. Not bad temperatures there, my friend. It's been pouring with rain here the last couple of days and pretty strong wind. Not nice to go out in at all.

First I hope that you are feeling much better now Darkwing honey and secondly I apologise for the timing of me getting to this discussion! I do hope that the floods that are affecting many parts of England are not having too big an impact on you. It has been quite a cold winter for us up here in the centre of Scotland but all in all I am sure we could have been affected a lot worse. Enjoy Ostara when it comes - I will try to remember this detail nearer the time but you know what my memory is like! xxx

No problem, my friend... you're here now. I haven't been out an awful lot, because I haven't felt too good but on the journey to my son's, I saw waterlogged fields where the water had spilt out onto the roadways and the drains couldn't cope, and the A/M23 was closed for a day or two because of flooding. Lots of minor streams and rivers had come over, and ponds had overloaded with water, so it had nowhere else to go but onto the roads. It doesn't affect me much because I live on a bank, and my village is on high ground, so since they improved the storm drains, we haven't had any severe flooding in over ten years, thank goodness. I will enjoy Ostara when it comes. Not long now, and I have Imbolc before that, at the start of February. I've already noticed the daylight hours increasing. It doesn't get dark until about 4.30 now. It makes you feel better just to see it brighter outside. :) Brightest Blessings, my friend. xx

Sorry... in explanation, Candlemass is aligned to Imbolc. A celebration of the increasing light and power of the Sun God, for us. :)

Yes, let's hope. I don't like it too hot, but a reasonably warm and dry Summer would be nice this year. We've had enough rain to drown the ducks!!! lol. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xx

Whhile you are doing all of that celebrating, celebrate for me as well. It will be my tenth anniversary with my husband. It does feel rather spring like. I saw the cardinals in my yard this morning. A young male, looking to see what he could find to eat in the compost. I am ready as we have had very concentrated winter this year. Ice storms and then snow. It is good to be a little thawed.

Wow... your tenth anniversary is on 21st March? That's wonderful... congratulations and enjoy your celebrations. Yes, it's nice when the weather starts improving from the Winter chill and the days get longer. The only problem here is, the weather is so mixed at the moment. Saturday was a gloriously sunny Spring day, with clear blue skies, then Sunday and today, it has been raining heavily with strong, gusty winds. Everywhere is waterlogged because we had a lot of rain previous to Saturday as well. It gets a bit tiresome, but we busy ourselves waiting for Spring to finally pop its head around the corner. :) Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Here in Singapore, we do not have the 4 seasons. However, we do celebrate spring which is coming in 3 weeks' time. The first day is the first day of the New Year in the Lunar calendar.

That's very interesting, Why... thank you. I can't imagine what it would be like without the four seasons, but there are a few countries which don't have them. Brightest Blessings my Friend.
