I can only tell you how it works in the US. Unfortunately most of the public doesn't read the fine print. Here you can fill out a form or call and be put on a No call List. This is a good thing. HOWEVER it does not apply to market research interviewers, surveys, public opinion polls etc. Because these folks aren't selling anything. Also what alot of people fail to realize is, if you do business with a company or an affiliate of that company they then are within legal rights to contact you. Even if you are on the No call List. So where i do my banking for example, or who I have my credit cards with or pay my house payment etc, these people can still contact me.
