So which Star Trek show do you watch - and why? Are you an obsessed fan who attends the conventions and has watched every show and collects memorabilia or do you just enjoy the clever sci-fi adventure of it all?

I liked the entire Genesis Trilogy which consisted of movies 2, 3 and 4. I thought all of them were great, most notably 2.

I saw 2 by accident. I was over a friend's house and saw Spock die and I had to see the rest of the film. So I saw 2, 3 and then 1 and then 4.

I am a Star Trek fan for over 30 years now. It started with TOS in 1972 when it arrived to Germany. I was ten years old then...*gg* My fav show is TNG, my fav character is Data. But the finest Trek I've seen yet is DS9. Of all the captains I would prefer Benjamin Sisko, because in my opinion, he is the most human of them all. But YEAH, I love ALL THINGS STAR TREK!!!

Yeah, I have been to some conventions, mostly in the 90s...my last one was already eight years ago (Ugh..time goes fast!) I'm glad I was at the Star Trek 30 convention in Pasadena in 1995 were all the cast of TOS was present. So I've seen De Forest Kelly and James Doohan which are deceased now on stage. My fave convention, however, was FedCon2 in Munich 1995 where Brent Spiner held two panels and Jonathan Frakes came on stage right from the plane witha huge jetlag but gave a wonderful show nevertheless...and the two of them signed over 2,000 pics for fans. As for memorabilia - does marchandise count for it? Because I sure have a good number of that stuff*gg*...like trading cards, action figures, t-shirts, even a watch and a clock (which both don't function any more) and yes, all the magazines and little stand-ups (I refrained from buying a real-lif-size-standup...lol), the posters and mugs and buttons...hehe...I LOVE to be a fan! Of course I own each ST series and all the movies on DVD. I'm very much looking forward to the new ST movie!

I like the original Star Trek and Next Generations the best, and after that Star Trek Voyager. I especiallly like the many episodes involving time travel. One of the most fun of those was the Star Trek Deep Space 9 episode when some of that cast went back in time to an episode of the original Star Trek series. Who would have dreamed that the series would develop into so many spin offs and movies. Live long, and prosper. -John K. username: goodbuys4you

Hey John K, I like the back in time series too, or alternative ones, I like the one where Picard has a whole nother life - a love, a musical ability and I think kids - progamer would know which ones that was.

I don't attend the conventions or collect the memorabilia, but I do watch a lot of star trek. My favourite series is The Next Generation, with Enterprise being a close second. I do watch other sci-fi as well, but star trek is the one I watch most.

I've never been to a convention for them but I think it might be fun in a light way or a Star Wars convention. I'd like to go with someone who was really really into it!

After watching all of the TV series that came out, I am still a fan of classic ST. The others have great SPFX but they dont have the uniquenss that Kirk, Nimoy and McCoy had....classic series had action, music and stories based on a more action-filled swashbuckling drama. Klingons were still bad guys, and they made great villians. I am anot an avid collector, but I have attended anumber of conventions and enjoyed each of them.

I've attended sci-fi conventions in MD - EveCon, BaltiCon and CastleCon but no Star Trek ones so that's kind of cool that you have. CastleCon was put on by a local couple who actually would invite people to their home - this was early nineties to lan on their computers, playing games and chatting on them! This was a very novel thing! They just asked that you donate a few dollars for the dinners they served. In the basement was always where you congregated to watch Star Trek. Did you pick up any Star Trek merchandise while there?

I watched all Star Trek series except the first (The original series) and the last (Enterprise) I don't like the first one because Captain Kirk was a male you know what lol. I mean come on. I know America was just coming out of the 's and still into the free love era, but everytime there was an alien female, he was in bed with her. I would have loved to seen his medical chart, to see what type of heebie-jeebies he came down with lol. I didn't like the last series because I don't think the guy from Quantum Leap really cut it as captain. Besides, if you know your Star Trek, the first captain of the Enterprise was Robert T April, not that guy (I forgot his stage name too) It really didn't fit in with the story line of Star Trek, so it didn't catch my interest. I loved Captain's Picard, Sisko, and Janeway. They really made their series pop, and I could really picture myself in their shoes. I also loved some of the supporting characters, like Deanna Troi, William Riker, Data, 7 of 9, Quark, Odo, and Neelix. They really helped their stories along. I could go all day about these series, but you want more than one post to fit in this discussion, so I'll cut it right here lol.

I must say that you put my mediocre Star Trek knowledge to shame. I didn't even know there was an animated series. I would have at least given that a shot.

Wow pro you really do know a lot! Very funny about Captain Kirk. drknlovely, as always a greatly detailed repsonse. Its true, the storyline - and one that matches up can be important - I did like that guy in the show Quantam Leap though, mostly cause I liked the idea, however full of paradox.

I bet Kirk had plenty of spacebugs, and maybe Bones was a whiskey drinker because of having to look at them on the medical charts. Blunderprise was a disaster. And when it started getting good (Xindi Arc, and then Season 4) it got pulled. Too bad, since there were going to be more references to Star Trek History (World War III, more to Col. Green). But yes, Archer didn't cut it. What made that worse was the season 4 mirror universe episode (Mirror Maxwell Forest was MUCH better as a captain in my opinion, putting "our" Archer to real shame.) And personally speaking the plotholes were what got me about Blunderprise (though season 4 tried to offset some of the damage). Unfortunately some say there was no canon entry for Robert T April (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Robert_April), the only thing there was is the encyclopedia entry and the last episode of the animated series, The Counter-Clock Incident(some do not consider the TAS canon, even Roddenberry). There were also novel and even a couple of comic references but those are not considered Star Trek canon. Canon-wise the way Blunderprise and some fans resolved the "who's first captain" dispute was that Archer was the captain of United Earth's/Earth Starfleet's Enterprise, while April was the first Enterprise for the Federation (though some can dispute it http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Enterprise_history) I could relate to Sisko most, but the others are up on that tier too.

I like DS9 above all else, and in my opinion it seemed reflective of what the world would be like (metaphorically speaking. Basically another long struggle of good vs evil, yet so many shades of grey). The other treks are good too with Blunderprise being in last place. I don't go to any conventions or anything but I have a couple of collectibles.

I have watched basically all of them and the Original is still my favorite. I have recently gotten attached to Enterprise and the original series movies are the best in my opinion. Conventions are fun but I only went to two of them a long time ago.
