Spoiled Child

Not even a bath alone - See he wont even let me bathe alone. I really don't know what to do. It is not like I want to neglect my duties as a mother but I would like a few minutes of alone time.

I have a son who will be one year old January 24th and I still breast feed. Breast feeding really isn't the problem but I think in doing so I have created a monster. My son is overly clingy. Everywhere I go he goes. I can't go to the restroom or even take a shower without him. If I do try and do something without his presence he starts to cry and pitch a major fit. I feel like he is suffocating me. Is anyone in a similar situation or have any suggestions on correcting the issue?

It will get better! I was stil nursing my youngest at 1 year and I felt like I never got to be alone...unless he was sleeping. I did work with him on it by just leaving him with Daddy for 10 minutes to shower...20 minutes to run to the store...30 minutes to take our older son to preschool and so on. Now he's a day over 14 months and I feel confident that I could leave him for several hours and he'd be fine. He also decided to wean himself yesterday I think. He dropped a few feedings here and there and was using his cup a lot more but still needed to nurse for comfort and for going to sleep. Yesterday he nursed for a minute or two 3 times and took his nap and went to bed on his own only being rocked. I'm glad he's self weaning and I know he's old enough I just thought it would be more gradual.

Well I think I will try gradually spacing myself from him. Increasing time apart gradually seems like the best idea that way I don't shock him and make it worse. Thanks.

I think your child is too much attached to you. hope it will get better soon as he grows up. May be it is the fact that he is always with you. If he gets other ones to play with, may be this will soon less a bit.

Don't worry, eventually he will be showing signs of independance. In another 8 months things will be different.
