I want to learn how to tattoo

I've been drawing since I can remember and I love tattoos. I've always wanted to do something with my art and my friends and family have told me that I should look into tattooing but I simply don't know where to begin. I've priced tattoo kits and I've researched getting started but I could never find a good starting point for learning. It's not like there are a huge amount of tattoo schools out there and I don't want to go learning how to tattoo from someone who only just started themselves, picking up bad habits that produce lousy tattoos. So I just put it in the back of my mind and continue looking for any type of gainful employment. If there are any professionals out there that may be able to help, please let me know. I would appreciate it!

I would suggest that you visit the tattoo parlors in your area and find out if any of them do apprenticeships. A tattoo artist that is already in a shop will be the best one to tell you what to do to get your career of on the right start.

yes they do. It would be a very good way to learn. I would choose a tattoo parlor that has been around for a long time and has a good reputation.

It is not that easy as we think, you need to have passion about art and very much creative. I don't know tattooing but also i feel that it is difficult for me as i am not creative by birth.

yeah i would say just go to a show and ask about it. in order to get a tattooing license you have to have so many years apprenticing.
my boyfriend bought me a tattooing kit for Christmas. it was about $300, good for start up. i just started tattooing myself lol its fun. i really need to go to a shop and get some tips on how to do it cause im not doing something right with lining. its SO hard to find tattooing videos online. you have to buy them. my boyfeind lets me tattoo him, and my sister has let me tattoo her also.
