Hi! I am curious how much do you typically pay your sitters for a night out. In the past my in laws have sat for our 1 year old and refused our money. Whats the going rate to pay a responsible senior in high school for an evenings night out?

I have a 1 yr old and I pay the baby sitter $25.00 a day and she works from 7 am until 5:30 pm. So it is $125.00 per week. I looked into daycares around my area to get this price. But if you are going for a night out, I would suggest $15-$20. The sitter wouldnt have to do much especially at night because the kids will be asleep and they just watch tv or do homework.

Thats pretty cheap for daycare. Here for all day for an infant is little bit more.

My friend's daughter charges seven dollars an hour to watch our baby. Likely though the going rate is higher - I know I charged five dollars an hour as a kid. And that was way back in the eightees. I wish I had inlaws close by to sit for our one year old for free! My sister-in-law has said if we ever move to back to MI then she will be stealing him every weekend.

my mother in law had helped us out alot. She is good with the little guy and loves him dearly. he's her only her only grandbaby so I think that might be part of her eagerness. I think its great that she wants to be so hands on.

about $6 or 7 an hour is about what I got back in the late 90's babysitting in highschool. I would get $25 an evening for about 4 hours of work. It is nice when my mother in law can help out. But she has plans that night and my husband already bought us tickets to see stars on ice.

I work at night and on the weekends. Its hard to find a babysitter to work the night and weekends. My babysitter I had moved away and now i'm trying to find someone to cover for her. ITS VERY HARD. I usually pay $30 a night. Thats for 3 kids. I believe thats pretty reseasonable being that they are asleep most of the time. I haven't had any complaints on paying that much.

most ppl i know of charge about $5 per kid sometimes a bit less if the lil ones are sleeping while they are here. but i only have family that watches my lil ones or me and a neighbour do tradeoff where i watch her lil ones and she'll watch my lil ones.

Thats a good idea.. too swap kids to give other parents a break and then they'll do the same for you.

When I was babysitting I have asked for up to $15 per hour. And as far as I know that is the going rate. Well here in Australia it is.
