Do you make your own Shake and Bake Recipe?

I wanted to make shake and bake chicken tonight for dinner. When I went to the cupboard to get a packet of shake and bake mix I had bought from the grocery store, it was not there. Well I didn't let that stop me. I remembered how years ago I would never buy shake and bake mix and I use to enjoy putting my own mixture together for chicken and even pork chops. Have you ever done that? Maybe you have your own recipe that you follow? I don't, I use to put what ever I could find in the cupboard available to me at the time. Maybe I should have written some recipes down, a few of those were exceptionally good. Tonight’s turned out okay but a little bit bland. I guess that is because I have not made my own recipe in a long time. I used a box of flavored crackers, grated parmesan cheese, salt pepper, basil, parsley, a bit of Italian seasoning. I dipped each piece of chicken into beaten egg before rolling it in the mix. Something just was not quite right. Maybe someone would like to try this and perfect it for themselves. I have used bread crumbs before and also cornflakes one time or two. All kinds of things you can use really. Maybe someone out there as a good recipe for shake and bake to share?

I love Shake and Bake and would love to learn to make my own. I love it mostly on chicken...I wonder if it's terriby fattening? I'm switching over to mostly grilled chicken and I wonder if I could use this stuff on it? MMMM...definately good stuff. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Not on an outside grill but rather my George Foreman grill. I never really liked chicken till I started grilling it on there and now I love it. One of my favorite ways is to either grill it, cube it and then dip it in my favorite sauce or to grill it, cut it up and wrap it in a tortilla with a little sour cream and grated cheese. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

In ever write any of them down. I just go nuts on the seasonings to say the least. I really like to make my own than going out and buying shake and bake. I perfer it over it any day. You can come up with alot of different and nice seasonings over time.

Ya don't you wish you did write them down sometimes? It's like oh my gosh this is perfect and then you forget exactly what you put into it. LOL

One good thing about doing things over and over again. I don't usually write things down. I have a good memory for that part. :)

I very rarely buy store bought shake and bake. I just use my own. I love corn flake chicken. I sometimes just combine flour, cornmeal and whatever spices I grab and put them into a bag, Then I shake them up and use it use just like shake and bake. It is much cheaper this way.

Yes I like to save money making things from scratch too. Plus I think it is nice feeling when you sit down to eat and it is your own personal recipes or a freinds recipe that you made. I have not used the cornflakes for a long time, I think I will next time as it does have a good flavor.
