OK i have looked around but cant really find much. I want to know if there is a differant way to perform an exorcism other than the christian churchs. i did see something about a shamin peforming a exorcism. I just want to knwo b/c me not being a christian was wondering if there has been ecorcisms performed outside fo the church and if they were sussesful. I know that on haunted houses there is many ways to get ghost out without calling the church. I also think that it really doesnt matter who or what you use as long as there is enough energy put into it the ghosts, spirts, or whatever you want to call them will go away, Whats your inputs and does anyone know of differant ways to perform an exorcism without a priest

My dear libertarian, If you are not a christian then how in the world can you be possessed of the devil? since lucifer was an angel of God, and was cast down from heaven for being haughty???? your discussion makes no sense...

I would also add that the concept of the Devil is not limited to Christianity. Judaism and Islam also have the concept of a devil, just to name two other religions that do.

First of all don't mess with exorcisms or any kind of spirit. Demons are real, ghosts and spirits are real and some of them do not have good intentions toward you. You should read Dion Fortune's book on Psychic Self-Defense before even considering dabbling in this arena. You need to spend some time getting to know who you are at your very core, because that is your best protection against any kind of fiend. Know thyself and to thine own self be true. Not just words, but they can save your sanity and perhaps your life.

It depends on what you are trying to do. Anyone can perform a ritual on their house to remove a ghost or an entity from a house. It's rather simple. All you need is a smudge stick and be very confident and very demanding in removing the spirits. You just walk around the house with the smudge stick and make sure the smoke gets everywhere, that helps break up the bad energy and remove spirits because ghosts and bad energy don't like sticking around where sage has been used. Remember to call in the good energy if you use the sage. Now, if you are trying to remove spirits from a person, it's a better idea to have a professional perform the ceremony has things can go wrong very quickly in those situations.

There are indeed several non-Christian exorcism traditions, and its good to see someone that has the curiosity to ask about them. I always find it interesting when people claim that, since possession is by the devil, then only Christians have exorcisms. Firstly, possession need not be by the devil, it can come from other entities. Secondly, Christianity is not the only religion that has the concept of the devil. Judaism has that concept, as do many other religions. One other exorcism tradition comes from Judaism and is called Dybbuk. A good description of this is found at the online "Encyclopedia Mythica", by Ilil Arbel, PhD. Among the four holy book of Hinduism (the Vedas), the one called the Arthave Veda has many descriptions for practices designed to cast out demons, ghosts and other evil spirits. These are practiced widely throughout India to this day. In Islam, a person might be possessed by Jinn (the devil), and there are occasions when exorcism is used. For this you can see "The Exorcist Tradition in Islam", by Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips. Hope this helps.

Okay now I am no expert on the subject but I do believe you have alternatives to the exorcisms that the churches do. I do not know why you would want to exorcise them in the first place. As a rule they are usually harmless. Although if you really do wish to be rid of them, I would start by finding out why they are there. Maybe you can help them with unfinished business and they will leave. Or try asking them nicely to leave your home and leave you alone. These are just suggestions and I won't be offended if you do not take my advice. I hope you find a solution to your problem though. Good Luck. imagicka
