Does Bmw's company have the potential to defeat the sales of mercedes.......

Recently i heard about the news of bmw giving a defeat to mercedes in its worldside sales..Accoring to the news bmw managed 1.57 million car sales...this inlucdes all the three companies owned by bmw that is bmw,mini and rollsroyce.......according to this news the sales include 40% 3 series........Mercedes managed a sale of 1.27 million vehicles over all in its worldwide business..But my question is that does bmw have the potential to defeat mercedes benz.Mercedes is still more loved and reputed car in my country than bmw and more people are familiar with it then how is it possible the bmw can defeat it......What do u people say about it..

well if i were to buy a car then i would chose a bmw anyday over a mercedes... as the bmw cars more driver focussed and are a delight to drive i like them...but the mersedes are to be chaffeur driven...
