What is your take on Jason Garrett staying in Dallas?

Okay so after interviewing for the Ravens and the Falcons job Jason Garrett decided to stay on with the Cowboys and take the promotion of Assistant Head Coach. Not only did he get a new job title he is also now one of the highest paid Assistant Coaches in the league. He is making 3 million a year now. That is more than some head coaches make. To me it seems like a smart move. He doesn't have all the responsibility he would have if he took the Ravens or the Falcons job but he is making about as much money. Now he has a good shot of taking of the Dallas job whenever Wade Phillips job there is done. What is your take on all of this? Do you think he should have took the head coach job at Baltimore or Atlanta? Or was he smart for staying in Dallas? And how can Wade Phillips concentrate on his job know that Garrett is basically Jerry Jone's hand picked guy to become the next coach?

Maybe because I am a cynic or maybe because it is the hated Cowboys but I think it is a sign that Wade Phillips days at Big D are numbered. If he is getting more money than the head coach, why not give him the job?

Well that is what they were discussing on one of the sports shows the other day. They were saying how it's got to make Phillips feel kind of bad knowing that Garrett is the hand picked guy to be the next coach. I believe that at the first sign of trouble Wade will be gone and Jason will be head coach.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a announcement in August that wade is being replaced by Garrett.

I think he was smart to stay with Dallas. They had a great season. I think next year they might get better and make it to the super bowl, or at least to the Championship game. I think Wade should just suck it up and do the best job he can this year and help Garret out by letting him in on learning techniques and stuff so the Dallas Cowboys can continue to succeed in the coming years after Wade leaves.

I agree that he would have been stupid not to stay there with the money they are paying him. He is making what some head coaches make and doesn't have to be bothered with the same hassles a head coach has to deal with.

I thought it was a good tdea for Garrett to stay in Dallas. He is a young coach finding his way and he did a nice job coordinating that offense this season. He will continue to grow and in time will take over for Wade. I think Wade is very understanding of the dynamics of what is going on with Jerry Jones's plan and probably supports it. Wade has been coaching a very long time and has been a head coach before at Denver and Buffalo. He is a seasoned veteran and has been in the profession for a long time and his days are getting numbered already anyway.
