Sinulog festival is one of the most awaited event of the year in Philippines. It is held every 3rd Sunday of January characterized by a very long parade with many groyps of persons dresses in colorful costunes, findingg their way through the street while dancing the ritual dance in honor of Sto. Niño. The dance is accompanied by the sound of the drums: all the time moving two steps forward followed by one step backward. While dancing, people are shouting petitions and thanksgiving to the Santo Niño. Shouting is necessary because the pilgrims have to be sure that they will heard by the Santo Niño. Though the dance is already very old, the parade is rather youndg! 1980 was the first year that the parade was organized. So much for the introduction, I have my great experience during the Sinulog street dancing last January 20, 2008. I will post some pictures I've taken during the event so don't fail to view them in. Pit Senyor!
