Super Bowl '08 Patriots Vs. Giants.

I know the New England Patriots are a team of destiny. They are undefeated and are demolishing opponents on their way to a Super Bowl championship. But will they demolish the New York Giants? I expected the Pats to demolish the San Diego Chargers last week. They won by two score, but, it wasn't a blowout. Considering the Chargers had their star running back in the sidelines and their quarterback playing with both knees injured, the Pats barely won that game and didn't even cover the line in Vegas (which was -14). The Chargers were threatening and could have won the game at any given time during the AFC championship. I am of the opinion that the Giants will do the same to the Patriots. It will not be one of those boring Super Bowls where the outcome is determined by halftime. Nope, gentelemen, this will be a knock down, knock out brawl to the finish. No blowouts here. The Giants will give these overconfident New Englanders a run for their money. I won't be surprised if there's even an upset (highly unlikely, but, if I were a betting man, I'd bet the Giants will cover the spread). What's your opinion, no, not who wins! We know it's probably going to be the Pats. My question is - do you think it will be a blowout or a close game 'til the end?

I think it will be a close game. Everyone is gong to be making it about Brady and Manning also but I just don't think they will contribute much. They might have a touchdown each but the big people are going to be the defense, the running backs and the kickers. I've been predicting all along that its only going to be 3 points difference when it's all said an done. Possibly even an overtime game. But it will be close. I look for Maroney, Faulk, Bradshaw and Jacobs to all have a big day running the ball. But the game comes down to a field goal.

I totally agree with you....it's going down to the last drive and a field goal kick. If I recall correctly, their first 2 Super Bowl victories were by 3 points and Vinatieri kicked the winning scores both times.

Very true, and without a clutch kicker as good as Vinitari, I'm interested to see how it would play out if it came down to that situation again.

Las Vegas oddsmakers seem to think that this game will be a blowout. They predict a 2-touchdown victory by N.E. Patriots. I agree with your prognostication that it comes down to a field goal. And without Vinatieri kicking for the Pats, can this mean a Giants upset? I'd buck the Vegas line and bet the Giants cover plus 13 points.

Well when the patriots played the giants awhile back, it was also a close game. I was sweating, as I am a patriots fan. I think the game today, like you said will be a good one. Especially after all this hype over Tom Brady being injured. Don't know if it is really true. But if it is and the giants take him down and injure him some more, than we could maybe be in trouble. It will be very stressful for me. I think I am going to have to take tomorrow off from work. : )

Sorry! I'm surprised about the outcome. I knew the Giants would come out swinging. I also knew that their defense would prevent Brady from scoring at will, but, I didn't expect 5 sacks and 10 knockdowns. I didn't expect Eli Manning coming through under pressure in that last drive. Wow!!!

I think this is going to be a close game until the end. The first half of the season the Pats pretty well blew everyone out of the water, but as the season progressed and the other teams started paying attention, the scores got closer and closer. There were a number of times I found myself holding my breath until the game was finished, but the Pats always seem to pull it out in the 4th quarter. I keep telling my husband that one of these times they are going to wait until too late and they aren't going to make it. I just hope Super Bowl isn't that time. Eli is hungry, and I'm sure the Giants will play their hearts out, so I'm sure it's going to be a good game.

During Week 17 when the Giants gave the Patriots a good fight, I thought that Eli and the crew left it all out in that field. I was sure that they would sputter in the playoffs after blowing all their energy against the Pats during that game. They proved me wrong and won all the playoff games on the road. This is an inspired and confident team. I agree with you, they will play their hearts out and could sneak a victory past New England if they're not careful.

I soooo hope this is going to be an amazing game. I'm tired of watching boring Super Bowls. Even the Giants vs. Packers game was close. They took turns scoring and then ended up in overtime. I backed the Patriots all the way to the Super Bowl because, in my opinion, if you go undefeated for the season, you deserve to make it to the Super Bowl field. I backed the Giants because they booted my team out of the playoffs right off and because Green Bay has already won more championship games than any other team in the NFL. Now that it's down to the Patriots and the Giants, I'm hoping the Giants will continue their pattern of upset on the way to the Super Bowl victory!

Deep down, I'm also rooting for the Giants to pull an upset. I like the Pats and am very amazed by the season they've had. I think they deserve to win it all. But, I'm so proud of what the Giants have done, winning on the road and against all odds. I just checked out the line, it is Giants +13. I'm putting my money on New York....that's just too many points for the Patriots to cover.

The patriots are an amazing team and i dont see that falling any time soon. The giants are gonna put up a good fight but u think that patriots will come away with it. I think the came will come down to the patriots team simply having too much going for them. Final score Patriots 30 Giants 14

You're right the Patriots are an amazing team this year and no one's been able to stop them. But does this mean they will blow out a pretty good NY Giants team? I don't think so. Eli Manning has choked in prior big games, but, this is the Super Bowl. I have a feeling the Giants will play with all the emotion that they've shown the past few weeks. Sometimes, one player doesn't make or break a team. In this case, Manning may have a mediocre game, but I believe his defense may step up and carry the team. It may be the special teams that show up for the Giants. Or yet, the running game may dominate. The Pats will play with an equal amount of emotion and their players are all proven winners. But in a game of this magnitude, I predict a close victory by the Pats. Final score 35-27, New England.

Let me start off by saying I am not a fan of the Patriots nor the Giants, so I really don't care who wins; I am just hoping for a close game. But do I think it will be close? No, probably not. The Patriots are elite. They have far more momentum then the Giants, and quite frankly I think tehy are a much better team. The Giants will probably keep it somewhat close through the first half, but then Brady and his stellar offense will vastly overpower the Giant defense.

I think the Giants keep it close. However, a NY turnover lost here or there may lead to a Patriot blowout. It seems like the Pats are great at pulling away in the second half of games (whether they're ahead or behind). I'm hoping for a close game. If the Giants' keep up their performance of late and take care of the ball during the second half, I may get my wish.
