When you look at the nutrition facts on a food box there is a section where it states calories and calories from fat. Which one do I follow to determine my total calorie count for the day.

Calories come from 3 sources- fat has 9 calories per gram, protein and carbohydrates each have 4 calories per gram. Calories from fat is an indication of how much fat the food contains. If you are counting calories you should follow the total calories, but if you are only watching fat intake, you should follow the calories from fat.

The calories count is the total calories for that product per the serving size on the label. The other number is just a part of that and already calculated in.
