Why is it suggested to eat more fruits, vegetables and cereals?

Fruits,vegetables and cereals all have alot of fiber and vitamins but not fat. So they are very good for you. Your dinner plate should be half full of veggies,1/4 full of carbs and the remaining 1/4 should be lean meat. We use fruits for snacks and desserts at our house.

Such a brilliant answer. I couldn't agree more. Since your answer is very specific, I assume that you have a good background on the said topic. If you could kindly give your opinion on an article that I came over with not long ago. It says that fruits are best eaten before meals considering that they contain a lot of fibers and they are best suited to be eaten prior to eating meals since they clean up the digestive tracks prior to eating meals. Is this true?

Fruits, cereals and Vegetables have more vitamins and minerals than other foods, and less fat and calories.
