I was watching tv this morning and they were talking about abusive parents. Is it okay to hit kids. and if it is to what point.

There is a big difference between hitting, spanking and abusing your kids. When I was little the definition of what abuse was in relation to spanking was completly different than it is today. You can't even spank your child on the hand in public without being threatened that the authorities will be called on you. I despise those nosy people in stores that "think" they could do a much better job than me with my own children!
I do spank my kids but I would never abuse my children in any way.

I got a hand on my butt when I was a child and it never hurt me. That is the problem with society today they always want to make an excuse. Oh, he murdered 3 people but he was abused by his father or his mother ignored him. BLAHBLAHBLAH. Maybe if they would stop making excuses and make people take responsibility for their actions this country would be in better shape.

I completly agree with you. I was "punished" alot more than a little spank..I got the belt, switches, hand, kneeling on rice...stuff like that...But, I was a "hard" child..But in no way would I ever go out and commit a crime and blaim it on that...That is just an excuse! There are too many services out there to help you recover from situations like these
