Have You Ever Adopted A Pet?

Adopting pets is big in our family. As most of you know my oldest daughter has adopted all her cats and the dog was a stray. Our youngest daughter adopted hers as well. I do wish everyone that was not going to breed their pets would get them neutered. There are so many pets that get euthanized each day because there are not enough people who adopt. It is so sad. http://www.pedigree.com/Images/PDF/free_food_form_08.pdf We love our pets and have had all of them fixed so there will be no unwanted babies. Have you ever adopted a pet? Did you know that you can get a free month's supply of Pedigree Food for Dogs? Yes, it is true. All you have to do is fill out the form and enclose the necessary papers. Then you simply mail them in. Now how easy was that?

We just adopted a new puppy, I went to the site to sign up. You need proof from where you adopted the pet. I got the pup from a neighbor, oh well. Thanks for the link anyway, I hope somebody here can use it. I have been over run with animals that I have adopted, well they sort of adopted me. We have 1 dog, 1 new pup, 3 cats and 2 birds. Plus the 2 legged critters, (people) I have a lively house.

Polly, I heard that one woman contacted them and explained her situation. She had no papers either. She got her free dog food. Worth a try

yep I pick up stray cats and I rescued two from the shelter, that is the only way I get my cats now. I love cats. I hate to see them out in the cold, canada is freezing. It is just cruel.

We adopted our dog, Shilo, from the human society a few months ago. I didn't know about this site but at the time the society gave us a bag of dog food for free which lasted almost 2 weeks. It really helped as we'd already spent $85 for Shilo :) he's worth every penny though.

I've thought about adopting but everytime I'm in the situation of wanting another pet, I end up with someone showing up to give me one. Our Morgana came to us through my Niece. A friend of her's moved away and left a mama cat and 6 kittens under their old house. The mama cat and 5 kittens moved to another house and Morgi got left behind. She brought her over and asked me to take her...of course I did and she's been with us ever since. I'd love to get her a friend but we're only allowed one pet here. I'd love to get a little puppy maybe too but can't right now. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

When I was younger I always adopted pets from shelters and a couple of dogs were strays off the street. However my current pets came from reputable breeders as I wanted a couple of purebred dogs. I never had one of my own. I did have a purebred cat some years before I got the dogs, but he came from a backyard breeder, which just wasn't the same. :P My pets are spayed an neutered. I don't intend to breed animals ever, so there is no need to have my pets intact. I did this when they were 6 months of age as I feel this is a good age for them to be fixed. I may not like idea that animal shelters and some breeders fix very young kittens or pups before going to their new homes as I think they need to be able to "mature" a bit, but at the same time a lot of people don't bother with getting their pets fixed after adopting them, so it might as well be done before the new owner gets them. I remember years ago, when my mom got a dog for my sister at the SPCA. He was an older dog that was intact. When my mom adopted him she promised the shelter she would get him fixed, but never had it done. I'm sure others did what she did and I can see why it is done before the animal leaves now...to insure that the animals WILL be fixed.

I use to think that a dog from the pet shop was the best you can get. I know better now. I see on tv about the puppy mills and the conditions these poor animals live in until they are sold to the pet shops. Not all pet shops do business with puppy mills but most do. I think the best thing you can do if you really love animals is to get them from a shelter or a rescue place. Not only do you save their lives but they are much cheaper than getting them from a reputable breeder. Yes I have gotten all but one dog from a shelter. I had 5 dogs in my lifetime as of now but I am looking for a furry friend.

I adopted a dog once from the pound many years ago. About a week after we got her we found out she was pregnant. The pound told us we had to have the pregnancy aborted. I don't believe in abortions, whether human or animal, so we refused and found out from the major or someone like that, that we didn't have to get the pregnancy aborted and that after the puppies were born and she was able to, we were to have her neutered. It was a bad situation and I never went to adopt from the pound again.

i started adopting cats and dogs since i was 7 years old.actually i do not have to find them.but they all will come to my house on their own.since we pity them so we took them as our pet.even some of my pets already passed away i would not feel lonely. it is because i will adopt new pets after that.but i only have 2 dogs until now.but i used to have a lot of cats.for the moment i am having 3 cats.i love cats more than dogs. the dogs is adopted by my mother.last year i only had 1 cat actually.but after i went to study in university my mother adopted 2 more cats.i am studying in other states which is very far away from my hometown.i was shocked to see my new cats when i went back during the holidays. everytime i go back university i will start missing my pets a lot.everytime before sleep i will look at their pictures.i always cannot wait to go back during holidays to see my pets.i feed my dogs with bones so it does not cost a lot.while for cats i give cats food. but one of cat do not really like it.so i will give rice to that cat.my other 2 cats like to eat cat foods very much.but cannot give them a lot.it is because i do not want them to be very fat which is not healthy. i hate people whose abandon their pets at the streets.everytime i sees stray cats i would feel very sympathy.sometimes i will buy some food and feed them.i just hope there are more and more people adopt cats.we humans need to be responsible and love animals.

we have adopted some pets like cats and dogs we also have some doves that our grandfather gave to my mom when we were little. and each time that they past away we cried so much. we even bring flowers everyday to their grave then we pray coz we believe then that they also have spirits like us. that everytime it happen it gives me pain in my heart. that's why when i grow up and have a family of my own i dont want to have a pet so that my children will not experience this grief. but then still my husband brought a dog one day where he bought it from one of his friend. pretending at first that i dont like it but deep inside me i am so happy having this nice little pet that he gave to us. and i really love this dog so much. how i wish that i can keep him forever. and now that we need to leave our home and live to another country i have no choice but to leave my very precious dog to my inlaws and it is hurting me again. i miss my dog so much and how i wish i can bring it along with us.
