My 14 year olds first time

:) So what did you think I was talking about. Tonight for the first time my 14 year old son watched my younger 3 kids. I know that doesn't seem like such a big deal. I mean after all he is 14. The problem is he is SO easily distracted. It is hard for him to pay attention. Granted we only left for 15 minutes, but it doesn't take that long for something to go wrong. What about your kids? When did you let your kids babysit for the first time? Is there a difference in boys in girls as far as age to babysit? What do you think?

At the moment my daughter isn't old enough, she's just seven. But when I was a child I was babysitting my younger brother and sister in the age of 12.I enjoyed to be in charge and to have the trust of my parents. When I was 14 oder 15 I did not like babysitting because there were more other interests for me. I think there is a little difference between boys and girls in that age. In my opinion a girl is more responsible than a boy at same age.

I was 12 years old when I first started babysitting. But girls usually mature faster than boys (man my 25 year old boyfriend is still a kid haha). I did babysitting training and courses, first aid on babies, toddlers and older children. Perhaps you should enroll him in a babysitting course to learn those things? how old are your younger children?

Oh I have a 12, 10 and 5 year old under him. the 12 year old helps to maintain the other 2. She is the peace maker. :) I know he has been enrolled in several safety classes just because he like to do that kind of stuff. the school here offers all that training for free. Thanks for the responce

I am sooooo sorry just noticed your response to mine. I really need to go back and check the posts I made on a regular basis! Thanks for choosing my response as best. That's good that's he's done the safety classes! I'm sure he'll be ready soon, does he ask you to let him babysit?

I think you son is responsible enough, he is a big boy. Is he responsible, if you think he is, than there is no problem. He will do fine.

I think he is too. It's just getting him to stop exaspirating the younger kids. At time their afraid of him. Other times he is very responcible. I'm sure he will grow up soon enough. :)
