Collective Suicide Websites: Why ?

Anyone who follows the media daily probably has noticed about the increase of cases of people, generally teenagers and youngsters, who decide to kill themselves, often accompanied by other people. And there's a common factor in most of them: they used to be usual visitors of websites that talk about, if not encourage, suicide. There have been a few cases here in Spain, and i've read about others in the USA and specially Japan. And i wonder why such pages are so popular today. What's wrong with our societies so that young kids with all their lives before them decide that the best thing they can do is just kill themselves? any ideas?
