Do you feel that Lamar Odom is a good compliment to Kobe Bryant?

Truth be told, I dont feel that L.O. is awful. But at the same time, I dont feel he should be paid so much. He is deserving of a 3rd option salary.. The lakers treat him as a number two, when his whole career he has been nothing but. I love the guy, but he is no compliment to Kobe. KB with any other number two in the league, would be tarring it up.. KB and lets say... Boozer, Howard, Yao, Amare, KG.. he would be tarring it up... That's why his words were true when he said that they are a championship contending team, when Bynum is on the floor. KB is the best, we dont need to be convinced of that. All he needs is a proper compliment, to elevate the team. And for the past 3 years, Odom has done nothing to prove that he is, that compliment guy. So... Do you feel that Lamar Odom is a good compliment to Kobe Bryant?

Moot point now, with the addition of Pau Gasol he can fit into his natural role as 3rd option much more comfortably.

Lakers have found a winning combination with Kobe,Gasol,Bynum and Odom. Odom is a smart baller but he was not able to take the pressure of being a sidekick to Kobe. With the addition of Gasol which is the new second offensive option for the Lakers, he can now focus more on the game and do other things beside scoring. He can be a really good role player for the Lakers doing all the other stuffs like rebounding.

Lamar is a good basketball player. He isn't Kobe's Scottie Pippen, though. Odom's worth his multi-million dollar salary. He can score, rebound and hit key 3-pointers. However, he's hot or cold. Very inconsistent. Even when he was with the Clippers or Heat. He can average 20 and 10, but if I were coaching him, he wouldn't be my go to guy.

You know some people metioned that "Boozer, Howard, Yao, Amare, KG" are not number two's but number one's and I guess essentially they are correct... but now that Gasol is with the lakers, he is a number two, even if he was once considered a number one. And his arrival really proves what I was attempting to state, with Gasol as the solid number two scorer the lakers are in a different level, and L.O. can now simply be the glue to the team, rather than be forced to play a role that does not suit him. His triple double against Minni shows where his talents lie.. and that being that one guy that does a bit of it all, to keep the team solid. 10 points, 10 assist, AND 16 rebounds... that is what L.O. is all about...

You mean kind of like Robert Horry the role player. Yeah, I know what you mean! Odom is a role player kind of guy. Good and solid, but a role player, not a go-to guy.

hi zenmachado, i'm a die-hard laker fan since the magicman and showtime. i think that lamar is a good compliment to kobe since he has a good all around game and his willingness to play second fiddle to kobe. but, as i read in one of the responses, he has more off-nights than good nights. and his previous injuries has contributed much to his inability to rough it up inside. it's as if, he's playing just for the sake of playing. i think luke walton plays with more heart than odom. but going back to complimenting kobes game, i think bynum is fast shaping up as a strong center, like in the mould of shaq. he can even be the go to guy in the future. and one more thing, if kobe can stop thinking that he is the only superstar in the team and make his teammates more involved in every game, like what air jordan did in chicago, then he won't be needing one compliment since everybody will be complimenting his game.

i feel you odom seems lost when he plays and kobe has to take over every game. now that bynum has mutured maybe odom can start taking better shots. hes doing alot better this year i think. ive watched every laker game this year and they look like the best team in the league even without bynum right now. im going to the lakers timberwolves game in a couple days ill finally be in the same building as kobe and company go lakers-Czheck

i know lamar or we all know that lamar is a good player! from clippers to lakers, and now is the backup of kobe together with fisher they are veterans, but one thing i dislike lamar is his pasion of the game. I dont know if he is confidence when they play in the court. I love lamar as well us the L.A.team if you love this team, and im very love this team too...if you compare Ronnie T. to Lamar O. you will see the big deference..Ronnie has the energy like any other players in NBA who keep on pushing to the limit. Why is Lamar not like that??? maybe its because of salary..i dont think soo..if he try so hard to play on the court, like turiaf did!..maybe even if bynum out, still they can compete with other team and win the game.

Lamar's real problem is his inconsistency. He's a phenomenally talented player, and is a triple-double threat on his good nights. However, on his bad nights he can be very bad. I feel Lamar's role is much better suited to him when Bynum is on the floor. Maybe he's slightly more comfortable as a third scoring option, or maybe he's more comfortable playing aggressively when he knows he can throw a lob pass up to Bynum for a dunk if he gets into trouble on a drive. But Lamar is a very big part of why the Lakers are one of the best rebounding teams in the league, and you can't overlook his scoring and passing abilities. It's all in the consistency. By the way, when you say KB with any other number two, I don't think guys like Yao, KG, Howard can be considered #2's to anyone. Yao is probably the best all around center playing the game right now, Howard is already showing in his third year that he's a franchise center who might actually finish the year averaging 20 and 15, which is just insane, and I don't think there has ever been another player like Kevin Garnett. I don't know what these guys contracts are, but they are all deserving of max money, and it wouldn't be easy to pay Kobe and another player max while keeping the team as deep as it is right now. I agree that the team is better with Odom playing the "number three role", with Bynum playing the number 2 to KB, but when Bynum goes down, Odom needs to step up, and I think the only thing preventing that is inconsistency, because on Odom's good nights he can ball with anybody in the league.

L.O might not be the best compliment for Bryant. But unless Bryant reach the level of Jordan in his prime time, anyone cannot be a good compliment for Kobe. Kobe still need to develop a better leadership character and not instigating a trade or foolish things!
