The age old question - Originals or prints: Which to sell as an artist!?! How do you feel about this? I sell original watercolors at http://hillarietasche.etsy.com

My own personal opinion is that to sell the originals is better. You can get more out of them, and they don't take up needed space in your studio. I personally don't have a hard time parting with my artwork, as I have given away lots of it since the time I started drawing. Some artists do, and their opinions may be different. However, there are a few originals that someone would have to pay me enough money to payoff my mortgage and retire on before I'd sell them....lol THose are the ones I hang in my living room.....hehe

I tried selling prints (which isn't really the right term as any printmaker will tell you as they tear their hair out. I think the term for commercial reproductions is glicee?). But to make it economic you have to have quite a large print run and while that's ok for black and white if you want colour it becomes very expensive. I also found that many buyers didn't want a 'copy'. I like your watercolours. How well do they sell on Esty?
