Zyrtec is over the counter now

I tried to pick my daughters prescription up today and after waiting for over an hour was told that her insurance wasn't going to pay because she is 2 years old. When I asked to speak to the pharmacist I was told that her insurance wasn't going to pay because it is over the counter now. I don't understand why they didn't tell me this when I dropped off the prescription. I asked how much it was going to cost me to by it over the counter and was told that for the dose she needs it would be $49. That is ridiculous. So, if you take Zyrtec just know that it is over the counter now.
