hmm.. which version of symantec antivirus you have and isnt it lowering you PC speed very much?
About spyware programs you are correct - for me they are much more useful and i use Lavasoft Adaware antispyware tool :)

if you really are fan of Symantec, then try new ones and later tell us what you think about them :)
and i allmost forgot to say about online virus scans - you can try these too from nod32 home page :)

Check out toptenreviews.com.
They have reliable reviews of AntiVirus, AntiSpyware and Firewalls.
I use BitDefender myself. Its a all-in-one. Its even working well on my new lappie with Vista.

http://www.toptenreviews.com shows very strange things i think - Biitdefender in first place!? I dont believe it! nod got lower vote for easy-to-use, but as far as i know new NOD versions is VERY easy to use if you dont swith to advanced mode, but stay with standart mode.

I use NOD32 antivirus - it is fast and stable.
in secondplace i can place Kaspersky antivirus.
they both is not freeware products, but have trials (for 30 day for free) to download from their web sites. if you dont have money you also can download illegal version on dc++, torrent or others p2p sites all over the internet.

well, i have illegal version of nod32, it is version 2.5 i think or something like that. if you need it i can send try to send it to you by e-mail.
trials you can download from Nod32, kaspersky home pages for free!
i use them on my work PC - reistalling new versions every month.
