After you are done having children who should get FIXED? Her because they are right ther when the child is born? Him because it is his turn after she did all the work? Or both as an equal partnership?

I have three children. I was the one who got fixed only because I was having bad problems. Before then we talked about both of us getting fixed. Well here it is a couple years later after the last one and he's not fixed. I guess it is easier for the woman to get fixed but it is only fair for both. Just my opinion.

Nice comments, Thank you. I agree that both parties should get the procedure done it is only fair and you are a partnership so just do it I say.

The male operation is a lot easier and fewer complications. With a vasectomy it is an outpatient procedure, where as when a woman gets her tubes tied it is a serious procedure. Personally the thought of a vasectomy scares me, I don't really want a knife near the family jewels. However I would not want to put a loved one through the pain of getting her tubes tied. While I was still married I told my wife that when we were done having children I would get a vasectomy.

I agree on this and I think other men should grow a set and do the right thing too.

Male sterilization is a much easier medical procedure, and less likely to have negative effects. Most of the female sterilization procedures are major surgery, while a vasectomy is an outpatient office visit in most cases. So that makes a big difference to me. Also, men are asked a lot less questions when they make the decision to be sterilized, at least where I live. When I asked my doctor about options after having my son, they didn't even want to talk to me about it because I'm young and only have one child, even though my pregnancy had severe complications. They seem really unwilling to let women make their own decisions on this matter, and seem to believe that all women will change their minds and want more kids. So it's easier for a guy to do it that way too.
