Once tenured, a professor can largely set his own responsibilities and decide to a large extent how to divide his time between teaching, writing, and at home responsibility.Almost 50% are under paid, but they still in their job;WHY? Did you agree that they are happy for the fulfillment of the student? But the worse thing is almost 75% of the professors are only part time, so there’s a limitation between the student and the professor. They don’t have enough time to here all the problem of a student.

Yes and most of the teachers annd professors are not satisfied by the pay they get. and also they have a lrage no of students so it is difficult for them to go through all the students affairs i think so . Muhammad Atif atifshahzad1@yahoo.com

Thank you for your good questions. Please visit the University of Iowa Press web site or Amazon.com and look up my forthcoming new book, TEACHING LIFE: LETTERS FROM A LIFE IN LITERATURE - in which I discuss these and many other issues. The book (hardcover, trade edition) is scheduled for an April 2008 release but may be pre-ordered.I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your reactions. Best wishes, Dale Salwak.

Some communities don't recognize teachers that much. They are addressed as "teacher", "ma'am", "sir" but that was all there is most of the time. I believe that teaching is a rewarding job, not finacially but emotionally, mentally and spiritually. In my case, I am only a tutor and a parttime instructor but I feel fulfilled because most of my students can'd forget me as their teacher. That makes our job more rewarding. Even if the community doesn't appreciate our sacrifices (teaching for how many hours, make lesson plans, preparing the lesson, visual aids, etc., making assessments, computing grades,...), the fulfillment we feel is more than enough to make us contented with it. SOme are working parttime because there really is no money in teaching but we cannot deny the fact that they cannot just give it up because that is where they feel that they most needed.
