As a student,of course, study is the most important things. However,I think,we should also have work experiences.Unfortunately,a colleage of mine,as well as a university student, fallen a subject last term.So her parent didn't agree her to have a part-time job anymor for it would distract her from study.Whether a student should take a part-time job?

Well,it depends on the student who is gonna take up part time job...i agree studies are important but part time job is good to have some pocket money...the advantage is u get to know how a work place would be,how to behave with people, nature of jobs being available, earn money even before getting graduated or going to college..disadvantage could be time management, work pressure,stress..part time jobs could be for 3 or 4 hours..a person should schedule the time to read and to work efficiently so that he/she manages both...the best thing is to select a part time job that suits your interest and which does not make u get stressed more such that it disturbs studies..it would be good if u could choose a job in relation to your studies so that u get a practical knowledge on it and help u learn better..that is internship..internship is a good way to do cos u earn a stipend and get to know various aspects which is subject oriented..think what suits u best and go ahead if u feel u can manage both..

Hi there Elf Kitty! I think that your friend's parent made a right decision. I think that students can work part time if they will be able to handle it well without their studies suffering. I think it's good to have work experience before you even graduate but it wouldn't look good if you have a failed subject in your transcript of records. I think that if one can't handle it well, then there's still OJT or internship where he or she can get work experience right?

I think that a student should have a part time job, because it will make it easier to find a job when they finish their studies as all workplaces are looking for people with previous experience. I think that the key is how you manage your time, don't work too many hours, between about 12-16 is maximum as it still leaves you with time in the week to study and socialise.
