"Any fool can make a rule, and every fool will mind it." H.D.Thoreau "Law never made men a whit more just." H.D.Thoreau "Laws are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men. Trouble is nowadays every fool thinks himself a wise man." UD Whilst laws enforcing morals do not make man more moral they set normative standards. all the best urban

I've heard it said many times through the years that you "can't legislate morality". The truth is, many of the issues you mention to be based on morality are subjective. I don't really think the government should pass laws based on the fact that some people think something is immoral while others do not. We all have to have our own moral compass and live our own lives accordingly but what you or I believe isn't necessarily what everyone else in the country believes, and some things are simply personal matters that the government should just keep their noses out of. to me homosexuality is not a question of moral at all. It is about love and freedom to live a life that is right for the people in question. Some areas of moral needs to be covered by laws. Like respect for others, their property and lives. But on areas where noone gets hurt by letting people decide for themselves it is not necessary nor desired in my mind to regulate by laws.

The government and the society distates the NORMS which change overtime. Moral enforcement will not work all the time sice everything ahppens in a case to case basis. Abortion is illegeal but what about those who age given only two choices - kill the baby so that mother could live and don't exeperience trauma or have the baby and take the risk as to who would live? As for homosexuality, its a preference men and women choose in their lives. As long as they are not hurting other people, there should be no laws prohibiting acting and living the way you want it to be. As for marriages, Philippines allow only union of male and female, therefore a lesbian and a gay are allowed to marry. I have nothing moral enforcement as long as they are not dictating what people should do. They must consider the basics rights of people all the time. I think goverment officials should me morally upright for moral laws to enforced efficiently. One examle would be Mr. Clinton's affair then, you cannot strictly implement fidelity in american marriages if the president itself was infidel right?
