My 4-year-old daughter is so taken in by dancing, music and of course, the 12 dancing princesses. She has ambitions of going into dancing school, and I totally support her. I am looking for a school and also raising resources for that, among many other goals I have. However, somebody says, of course, you will learn to dance, but not until you learn your ABCs. Unfortunately, I am not of the same opinion. I want her to enjoy and go for whatever interests her. I am not sure about whether this is a better approach, but who is?

Thanks, cherriemae. It's sort of cathartic for us moms to see our kids do what their little hearts desire. Times have changed, too, I think. Parents now are more open to "non-practical" wants of our children, whatever that means! cheers!
