What are your thoughts on this? I was watching Oprah the other day for about 15 min, and there was a doctor on her show explaining how cervical cancer may not be caused by an STD, such as HPV. I tend to agree with this a little. What are your thoughts? More specifically what are your thoughts on this new article? I was under the impression that genital warts are contagious, but the actual abnormal cells, causing throat cancer? I'm not so sure about that http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080202/ap_on_he_me/hpv_oral_cancer

So in other words, this HPV is contagious. It can be transmitted orally from a woman to a man or from a man to a woman during oral copulation? Is this what I am to understand?

Basically. In the article, it does state that there hasnt been a direct correlation yet, but thy are looking for one. Also there isnt anything out about women getting these cancers, so i am sure if it is the reason, there will soon be studies out about women with these cancers. not yet though

I did not read the entire article yet. I was so shocked by what I had learned so far. It is really very shocking to hear all of this. I will go back and read the rest of it later. Thank you so much for sharing it.

I dont think anything has been proven yet. I think most doctors agree that HPV is linked to cervical cancer, and now possibly throat cancer. But its not a fact yet.
