I have always been interested in calligraphy but being left handed I have often been told not to bother. A little disappointing but seing as I have a hard time not smudging a fountain pen I can kind of see why! I was just wondering though, any lefties out there who have managed to master calligraphy?

Sorry if I am not among those who write with their left hand and still responded to this discussion even though your question were calling for answers from lefties that mastered calligraphy... ^_^ Don't pay attention to those who tell you to not bother with something that you are interested in. Smudging is part of learning. You can't expect to be precise at first chance. Here's what lefties have advantage of: creativity. Being a lefty means probably means the dominant type of thinking is on creativity. All the right side of the body is controlled by the left side of the brain which is known to be the logical thinking half while those at the left side of the body is controlled by the right side of the brain which is known to be the creative half of the brain. Being a right handed person, I envy lefties. I know most things and habits favor the right handed population but, nothing can't be settled with a little practice and that includes smudges when you try calligraphy with your left hand ^_^

*flicks hair* more creative, eh? Well, I do like to dabble but I'm more a Jack of all trades (master of none). But thank you for the encouragement :)

I could flick my hair too but, that doesn't seem right at the moment ^_^ Jack of all trades? I am like that too since I fairly have no main interest at the moment. I can somewhat draw, do sports, play video games and other stuff that I find intersting but, not one of them being a main thing for me to consider as something that I could be a "master" of ^_^; Just go and always think of your advantage compared to those that insists on conforming to the "right" things they see fit.
