Do you think the NEWS MEDIA could be THE vehicle for world peace???

After watching the Republican Debate hosted by CNN's Anderson Cooper recently, this question has been haunting me. I have been absorbing the news toungue-in-cheek for the last few years realizing that mainstream mass media exposes what "they" think the masses want to see and hear. In a not so subtle way, mass media actually shapes ideas and motivations in people so it is already one of the most formidable vehicles for information seen to date. In that recent republican debate, I was extremely aware of Anderson Cooper ignoring Ron Paul totally and the "Huckster" quite a bit. Well, millions of people probably watch those debates so I am of the opinion that would severely impact Paul's and the "Hucksters" campaign in a negative way.(I am using Huckster because forgot his last name.) FOX news is doing the same thing to Ron Paul. Blocking him out totally. Now I am sure that there are those who will say Oh!! Thats a good thing!!! and I am also sure that there are those who would like to sue the news media who does this. Well, It is discrimination, is'nt it. The owner of the company, like Murdoch with FOX, can deliberitly train and shape peoples ideas any way he would like. Information is that powerful. I totally reject the idea of muzzleing free speech in any way, but in the ideal, I truly believe the media could be "the vehicle" for world peace. I think there has to be some way to limit a news stations ability to feed us news that only "they approve" of. There is something scary about that. What do you seriously believe about this ???
