This movie is filmed for the watchers to believe that he or she is watching the actual events of a natural disaster in progress. It is filmed as if you were watching home video coverage of the actual events. It looses its authenticity or credibility from the beginning as we all know that said events never took place. Compared to a simular type of movie, The Blair Witch Project, where we actually believed that it was based on real events, until someone went to alot of trouble of proving otherwise. Of course by then, we had already believed the movie as we did not know while watching it, that it was all made up. I personally would have rather seen the story as a traditional Hollywood film, not as a home movie in the making.

The movie was great and disturbing. Maybe the plot wasn't as deep as "The sixth sense" or "saw", but the simplicity and the shooting techniques make this film one for the books. Also, it was very cheap to produce, so that also make it one for the wallets.

I remember seeing the trailer for this movie when I went to see Transformers this summer. The trailer looked very interesting because little info was given on the actual story. It's too bad the movie is disappointing. It's almost like Hollywood is running out of ideas!

i loved the movie. people saying they wanted a more traditional film confuses me bc there are already a million monster movies out. i personally dont want to see a remake of godzilla. and the fact that its not believable is kind of funny too. its a giant monster attacking new york. they dont want to convince you to believe that it happened or could happen, they just want to show a very common genre film from a new angle to help the audience to suspend their disbelief.

Hello there, I am sorry I don't know this movie and never have a chance to watch it as I am a full time working mother. After a whole day's work, I still have to cook and make sure my daughter finish her homework before going to the bed. So I rather spend my spare time on mylot to have a chat or reply the post with mylotters.

watched Cloverfield sometime last month I think. Thought it was pretty good, the way they filmed it and all. but I was a bit disappointed with the ending haha. Was hoping that rob and beth would survive or something. Good movie, nonetheless.

I was really eager to see this movie, but found it to be a big disappointment from beginning to end. Let me rephrase that: it really HAD no ending. I don't need to have everything spelled out for me in a movie or book, and things don't have to end with a 'Happy Ever After' scenario--I have a fairly good imagination and don't mind using it--but I don't like being cheated out of some type of plot. I agree with ppartee-I would rather have seen it in a more traditional format. Since it started out by letting you know that the film was in a secret government file, I rather expected some 'government agent' to come on at the end and make some comments, or do something to give some insight. I was also rather disappointed that the 'monster' scenes were highly reminiscent of the old King Kong movies. If Kong had been photoshopped just a little, they would certainly have looked an awful lot alike. I did see a reference in the credits to some use of footage/clips (?) from 'King Kong' and 'Swamp Thing'. I read over the weekend that the director has the go-ahead to film a sequel. In my opinion, that would be too little, too late. I would not recommend this movie to anyone (or at least not anyone I really liked !).

Yeah I saw the movie online a few weeks ago. I liked it the only problem I had with the movie was it was way to short ended at an hour and 12 min. Which is why I wouldnt go see it in the movie theators. But I loved the point of view just made it very realistic. Also I wish they showed the monster in some more scenes you really only get one good shot of him at the end which looked very cool. I hope they make a sequel but not from pov.

I saw a little bit of the movie and I can say honestly that it didn't keep my attention very long because to me it was like it wasn't even real(and in movies you want it to be like this is actually happening in real life)and that wasnt like it to me...if you want my honest opinion its like that other movie that came out a few years ago I think that it was called something like the day after tommorrow(not sure if that was the actual name of it I think that it was)it was ok but not the best movie I have ever saw!

i haven't seen it (and i'm not sure if i will) but a couple of my friend who did complained of feeling incredibly nauseous due to the way it was filmed with shaky hand held cameras. in fact, one had to get up and leave and ask for her money back at the theater because she couldn't even watch it since it was making her so sick. believability is one thing, but if a film is trying so hard to look amateur that it's making the audience queasy i don't think it's a very good thing.

I saw Cloverfield opening weekend and loved it. What I found most interesting about Cloverfield was not the movie itself, but the marketing campaign leading up to the release of the movie. The Alternate Reality Game was pretty fun to participate in and gave a lot of insight to the mythology of the film.
