Marriage and television, what do you do?

Okay, so my husband and I have been married for 12 years. We have never had the same television interests. I prefer the stuff that makes me laugh or a good drama. He prefers sci-fi or news type programs. We literally never watch t.v. together. He stays in our room (at night after the kids go to bed) and I stay in the living room. Sometimes it feels like we are weird or something. So, are we the only couple on the planet that don't watch t.v. together? And if you do watch t.v. together, what do you watch?

typically i watch tv alone. sometimes we'll watch a movie or something together. the only shows we both like are fight quest, dirty jobs, myth busters, and smash lab. other than that we ahve no similar interests. she starts watching her shows, i take a nap until my shows come on, or i watch something in a different room

I don't think many couples have lots of things in common. It depends on how they make their life work together. For you and your hubby can stay together for 12 years, which have set up a good example for many young couples. My hubby and I only watch TV together once or twice per week as he is a music freak who will go out to play at least 3 nights a week. If we watch TV together, we will watch Discovery, History and True Movies Channel that we both like.

You're not the only ones. My husband likes sci-fi, and I like documentaries. We have two TV's.
