Bird Or Bat "Oh My"

The other night at work, I went outside for my last smoke for the night. I work as an overnight aide. Anyway I had been out there many times that night and never really looked at the outside light. Well I happened to look up as it was kinda right above my head and I saw something in there. I looked closer and relized it was breathing. I could not see it's head, only the lower body. Within the light it looked rather white with possible streaks of gray or black. It was hard to tell because it was right against the light bulb. Anyway could it have been a bird? I doubt it was a bat as they don't like light, but then again stranger things have happened. So what do you think? And has anything like that ever startled you when you least expected it?

"And has anything like that ever startled you when you least expected it?" OH hell ya!! just last week actually....My husband and I were driving home from doing groceries and were on our road (which is actually a minor highway)...well its mainly country so there isnt tons of streetlights etc etc and out of the corner of my eye I see this big white thing zooming towards my window then seemingly stop and back off then disappear....I jumped and said to my husband "what the f*** was that?! did you see that?!"...he did and it caught him off guard too....Turns out it was an owl...Things startled the everloving crap outta me! As for what you saw, I'm thinkin it would be a bird..maybe there is a nest there and it was just chilling for the night...I doubt it would be a bat though.

Wow I didn't know owls got that close to the roads. I would of driven off the road if something like that happened to me. Well I'm going to check it the next night I work and see if it is there again.

was it big enough to be an owl? There have been plenty things that have startled me. one night, there was some noise coming from the garbage can. I moved closer to it and just as I was about to open it, a raccoon popped his head out and made me jump. lol.

Lol. I bet your heart skipped a few beats. Our garbage cans are located out back at work, where I smoke, If I heard a noise I would not want to check it out, especially at night.

That does sound a bit odd , but don`t bats go after flies and other insects that are atracted to the light , thats when they come out to get their food isn`t it ??? I am probably wrong but thats what I have always thought
