What Do You Feed Your Cat For a Treat?

I've recently gotten a kitten, a beautiful little girl whom I named Mia. She's just on kitten food at the moment, both wet and dry, twice a day, but in a month or two I want to start feeding her the occasional chicken neck, and beef mince. Do you do anything like that with your cat, or do you treat them with a special brand of cat food? Mal.

Please do not give your kitten/cat any chicken bones including chicken necks. Some chicken meat or beef is fine but please no bones. The bones can get lodged in their throat or splinter and tear up their insides which can kill them. I give my cats temptations treats from any grocery store such as walmart, food lion grocery store. All of my 9 cats love them and look forward to getting them in the morning and evening. One drives me nuts for them during the day and her sister comes in a soon as she hears the bag. So try Temptations Cat Treats instead. It's meant for them so it's safe(r).

That exact reason is why chicken bones go straight to the dumpster in our house. Our kitties are notorious for getting in to them if they are anywhere in the house when you go to bed. I know they love them, but I don't want to take the risk.

Oh gosh, something about that darn trash can! lol We had a stray dog that we took in but kept getting into the trash can. He was so full of problems that I had to give him away because I couldn't handle him alone. My husband was in the army and was in Korea for a year. Anyway, the stray dog taught my male cocker spaniel to get into the trash can so we had to buy a wooden one with a top and lid on it. He couldn't get into it anymore because it was too heavy. That was the end of that mess!

Whenever I tried to teach my kitten treates and they didnt seem to really like them they would just look and sniff them and kind of look at me like are you seriously trying to feed me this stuff lol So whenever they would do something that I had tried to teach them and they would actually learn it and do it on command I would go over to the fridge and get a piece of cheese out and just feed them a little pinch off of that and that always did the trick for me because they like cheese and I dont think its bad for them either!

Our cat, Morgana, eats regular cat food and gets tuna as a treat. I've heard the horrors of feeding cats tuna but she does great on it and is perfectly healthy so as long as she is...I'll keep giving it to her. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

My cat's called Mia too :) lol. I heard of feeding them sardines, i havent tried it with my Mia though. Apparently it helps keep their coat glossy and shiney

LOL! It's so awesome that our cats have the same name =P Great minds think alike, as they say. I guess sardines have those natural oils/nutrients and whatnot.

I open a can of tuna per week and give my wonderful cat a teaspoon per day as a treat. He absolutely loves it. I find that it helps with his coat too. He especially loves the liquid in the can of tuna. He also likes the litle fish-shaped treats sold in an aluminum pounch. (the name just went out of my head)

My girls only eat wet food, so I use dry as a treat. They also get raw chicken necks for their teeth. I consider it brushing, they consider it food, so it works out well for both of us.

i bought a few different kind of treats for my cat when i first got my cat from the shelter but she was never interested in any of them. so i figured okay - if she doesn't want treats, then it will just be regular cat food for her! i never feed her any "people food" which means she never has a craving for it and doesn't go crazy and beg for food while i'm eating.
