What do you think is the best website to make flight/travel plans? Expedia, SmarterTravel, Travelocity, cheaptickets....some other site? Don't they all check the same airlines and give the same prices? I compared prices and services on different sites and liked Expedia and I have used expedia for last 2 years. Do you book tickets online or still use travel agents?

I am an independent traveler rather than a package tourist that would go to see a travel agent. I like to search for cheap airline tickets on the Internet then book on line when I have decided which has the best deal. Sometimes airlines have good deals on their own Internet site. I got a return flight to New Zealand with many stopovers for about £800 booking direct with the airline. I booked a flight to Cancun in Mexico then about 10 days before I was due to go on it a hurricane hit the Mexican coast. Cancun Airport was closed and for a while my flight was in limbo. Then the agent canceled it giving me a full refund. I had to quickly choose another destination. I picked Male in the Maldives. Oh my! The accommodation there turned out very expensive.

I book all my travel online been doing it that way for over 10 years now. I haven't used travel agents in a long time - years and years. Because so many sites have prices that are the same or close to the same, I usually just go to Yahoo travel and Southwest airlines (becuase they are not on the booking sites).
