Apple Cake recipe

4 cups chopped apples 2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup applesauce (or oil) 3 eggs, beaten 1 cup chopped nuts, optional 2 tsp vanilla 2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt Preheat the oven to 350. Mix all the ingredients together, in order. Pour into a 9x13" pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Optional glaze: 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup butter 1/2 tsp soda Combine the glaze ingredients together and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes. Pour over slightly cooled cake.
