What do you think of liquid diets?

I have heard that is what Janet jackson does to to lose her weight. I don't know that I could do it. I tried to do a juice fast once and didn't even last one day. I can't stand to be hungry. That is my problem. I get to the point that I am so hungry that I don't care what I eat or how much. I have to not do that. I don't think just eating liquids would keep me from doing that. What is your view?

Your best bet for staying on a liquid diet is to start with a 3 day water fast. The reason is that you must shrink your stomach so you won't feel so starved on only liquids. After 3 days on just water you will really appreciate the flavors of juices, especially if you make your own fresh squeezed juices from many different fruits and vegetables. I have fasted before and came off it with grapefruit juice, although I didn't have any intentions of continuing a liquid diet, I have to say grapefruit juice tasted heavenly after 3 days of nothing but water. I think I could have continued if I had wanted to, that just wasn't my intention at the time and I worked back into regular foods over the next couple of days.

I don't think I could only drink water for 3 days. I would die!

It's really hard, but you won't die. The worst that could happen is being a little nauseous the morning of the 3rd day, but if you sit still and drink some water slowly it will pass within 15 minutes.

I dont know how these stars or anyone can stay on these silly diets, they seem to be able to stick to them and survive, I have not got the staying power or the inclination for anything like that. How boring for a start and liquid is not going to fill anyone up, you would be driven mad with constant thoughts of food all day long, not to mention everyone you see looking like your favourite meal!!! There is a product called slim fast (I dont know if you have heard of it) its like a milkshake but its supposed to fill you up like a meal and has your required intake thingies in it. You have one for brekkie, one for dinner then a calorie controlled evening meal, its really expensive, but I was desperate to lose some weight and so I tried it, and I put a stone on while on it because I couldnt stop eating!!!

That is awful. I am so sorry that it didn't work out for you. But you are right. You think about food all of the time if you are depriving yourself. I try to eat salads mostly. Hopefully that will help me. I know that if I stay under 1500 calories a day, I will lose some.
