My chili is evil. You take a mouthful of it and it tastes so good in your mouth and on your tongue but about 30 seconds after you swallow it the back of your throat catches on fire from the heat. It gets people every time no matter how many times they eat it. I fry 1.5 lbs. ground beef in 1 pack hot McCormick chili seasonings and use 2 cans diced tomatoes with jalapeno peppers in it. Then I use 2 cans of hot dark red kidney beans and 1 can of mild light red kidney beans and 2 cans of pork and beans. Then add 3 TBSP crushed red pepper and 2 tsp cayenne pepper and 2 tsp black pepper and 1 TBSP garlic powder. I fix cornbread to go with it and steamed brown rice to put it over if they like rice with it. I also set out ramikins full of shredded sharp cheddar, sour cream, and sliced jalapenos if they want to add any of this to their chili. Good luck! Have plenty of milk on hand it you do decide to make mine. It is the only thing that will ease the back of the throat burn.

Next time you make chili add about 3 tablespoons cocoa and 1/3 cup sugar. Really gives it an awesome taste.

I use ground turkey once in a while and just buy the McCormick or other packaged chili mix and follow the instructions. Recently I did find a recipe I'd really like to try it's a chili and cornbread casserole. 1 (15 1/4-ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained 1 (14 3/4-ounce) can cream-style corn 1 (8-ounce) package corn muffin mix (I use Jiffy) 1 cup sour cream 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar (more or less depending on how much you like cheese) - Optional Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, stir together the 2 cans of corn, corn muffin mix, sour cream, and melted butter. Pour into a greased casserole dish. Bake for 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and top with Cheddar. Return to oven for 5 to 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Let stand for at least 5 minutes and then serve warm. To make the chili part add it to the bottom and pour the cornbread mixture over it.
