Problem with a team member

Am a Team leader and 4 people report to me. One team member performs very bad and though advised still continuous to do errors again and again. Not willing top take bad feedbacks...don't know how to deal with this person and also i don't want to take this to top management. Any team leader who has handled such a person effectively without surrendering such head count??????

if a team member isnt playing with the rest of the team then replace that one with one who will. its a hard one for you..........

Am given this team member as a challenge,other team leaders don't want to take this person and have surrendered

In such cases a good conversation would be the output. Clarify all the facts and show that person that can bring you problems.
