My wonderful soldier just made it to his new fort to start his AIT training MOS 25U. He said it would still be a while before they let him make more phone calls. It was so good to hear his voice again. It's hard when you only get to talk for a little while once a week, but all of the letters really help. Just 17 more weeks and we'll get to see one another again! Hopefully they won't deploy him right away, and we'll get some time to spent together.

My ex husband was in the army. He was a 98 charlie so he didn't get sent away from home hardly ever. Right after we got married 9 months later he got a 1 yr tour in korea. It's what killed our marriage. I don't mean to scare you. Just keep up the letters and phone calls when ever you can. People get lonely when they are away from the ones they love. And you will make it through his absence. It's only 17 more weeks.

I've heard all about how high the divorce rate is in the military. I think it's sad really. People just don't take commitment as seriously as they used to. We both write every day, and I know we haven't gone through a year apart yet, but we are both preparing for that- since it is a possibility. I think it will be harder on him than on me because he isn't home and I am, which means I still have the family. He's made a few friends though. He was different when he came home during basic for his 2 week holiday break, and I know he'll be even more different when he comes home in June. People change, that's life. The important thing is to love him for who he is, not who he was or who I want him to be. Thank you for your post.
