How to make your ipod work on vista?

I have XP and Vista, I have tried everyway possilbe and every download to get my ipod video working on vista, I have phoned the dell tech people, (They didnt want to help, because ipods arnt theirs, so they were a bit crap!) but does anyone know how to get ipods working on vista? or it just my computer? do i need some drivers or something? (Although I have already tried loads of them, but nothing :/) Thanks =]
