What is my baby smiling at?

My 3 month is always looking over my shoulder and laughing and giggling. It really freaks me out. What on earth is she seeing that I am not? Any ideas?

i've been through that with my little boy as well. i agree that it quite creepy and it also would sometimes freak me out. i think at this age, babies usually are just getting improvements on their eyesight so they can't really see clearly. or maybe yes, it might just be gas.

Maybe you're right, it's not what she's seeing, it's how she's seeing it! Thanks for the idea.

She is seeing everthing for the first time. People, lights, colors, patterns, motion... The world is a big place with lots of interesting things. My little guy used to be entertained for litterally hours just by watching our ceiling fan. not exactly my idea of entertainment but hey who am i to say whats fun? Just be glad that she is happy and not a fussy bugger.

I guess I am lucky that she's happy most of the time...Don't get me wrong, she does have her fussy moments. She loves our ceiling fan too.

If you are out in a store or some public place, someone like me could be making faces at them. I always try to get babies to smile. Then again, at that age it is probably just gas. LOL

At that age it could be anything. There might be something unseen, if you believe in that, or maybe just something you wouldn't think of. A color or the way your hair tickles her. My baby used to laugh when you held her close because she liked it. Light reflecting or maybe she finds her point of view funny. At that age who knows maybe she just has funny thoughts....."look at me I'm flying". LOL.

It could be that your baby has psychic abilities or can certainly see things that you cannot. Also, no-one really knows how much a baby takes in and what is going on in their minds.
